Receiving Your Baileigh Shipment
A quick guide to inspecting, accepting, and protecting your new equipment from the moment it arrives.
Thank you for choosing Baileigh. Whether your order arrives by parcel carrier or LTL freight, a careful inspection at delivery helps protect your equipment and gives our team the information needed to resolve any issue quickly.
Small Parcel Deliveries
For most residential parcel deliveries, you do not need to be present. The carrier will typically leave the package at your front door or in another secure location. Use the tracking information provided by the carrier to estimate your delivery date.
Inspect the Package Before Opening
- Check the outer packaging for holes, open areas, scuff marks, retaping, repackaging, or other visible damage.
- Photograph anything that looks damaged or unusual before opening the package.
- Open the package and compare every item with the included packing slip.
If everything is present and undamaged, your shipment is ready to go.
LTL Freight Deliveries
For larger LTL shipments, the freight carrier will contact you to schedule delivery and confirm whether liftgate service is needed. Respond promptly to the carrier — a delayed response can lead to an unexpected delivery, a returned shipment, or additional freight charges.
- Liftgate service lowers the shipment to the ground as close to the building as the driver can safely access.
- Residential freight delivery is curbside, generally at the end of the driveway.
- For safety and liability reasons, freight carriers may not be able to enter a driveway.
Inspect Freight Before You Sign
Before signing the delivery receipt, inspect the shipment for visible damage and verify the number of pieces against the driver's paperwork. If everything is correct, sign the receipt to complete delivery.
If you find a problem, do not simply sign without noting it. Describe the damage, shortage, or other discrepancy as specifically as possible on the driver's paperwork, and take clear photos for reference.
Complete Your Inspection Within Three Business Days
After delivery, open and inspect every item for concealed damage, missing parts, or other issues. Use the packing list to confirm the full shipment, and retain all packaging materials in case a return is required.
